Global Health Norway Conference 2025

"Together for global health"

Welcome to the annual Global Health Norway conference, scheduled for November 5-6, 2025.

This time the conference will be held in Bergen, with the University of Bergen as host. The venue is in the city centre, Nygårdsgaten 5 – a newly rehabilitated UiB-building. There is no registration fee.

Part I: We will focus on the following topics in our key notes:

Partnership North-South: How can we best cooperate?
To foster effective North-South partnerships, we should prioritize mutual respect, open communication, and shared goals to address global challenges collaboratively. Acknowledging and addressing the impacts of historical colonization is crucial for building equitable and just partnerships.
Keynote to be announced

Climate changes: How can we best contribute to reducing this problem?
The status of climate change is alarming, with rising global temperatures, increasing sea levels, and more frequent extreme weather events. How does this affect our work in global health? A specific example will be discussed: Heat induced kidney disease.
Keynote speakers: Senior consultant and Professor Carl-Gustaf Elinder, Karolinska University Hospital and Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. Professor Helge Drange, Geophysical institute, University of Bergen

Prioritation of research. How can we best prioritize? We will hear and discuss new information about the Global burden of disease project, and about how to prioritize in global health.
Keynote speakers: Professor Simon Øverland, Centre for International Health,University of Bergen and Professor Kjell Arne Johannessen, Bergen Centre for Ethics and Priority Setting (BCEPS), University of Bergen

Artificial intelligence in global health. How can we best use this resource?
Artificial intelligence holds great promise for enhancing global health by improving disease diagnosis, optimizing treatment plans, and enabling better health management. Keynote speaker: Professor Pinar Heggernes, University of Bergen.



Part II: Scientific presentations from submitted abstracts

Invitation to submit abstracts for scientific presentations:

ABSTRACT GUIDELINES The abstracts can be on any subject of relevance to global health research. Students, researchers and health practitioners are invited to submit an abstract.
Deadline for submission: 11 April 2025.
