The University of Bergen (UiB) initiated the organisation of a national conference, “Knowledge for Our Common Future” to consider the role of higher education institutions in relation to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The objective of the conference was to engage Norway’s research and higher education communities, politicians, government officials, NGOs and industry in a discussion on how universities can contribute towards implementation of the SDGs.
UiB Rector, Dan Rune Olsen announced that SDG Conference Bergen should become an annual event as an arena for debate on the SDGs to discuss the science-policy interface.
Bente Moen, Head of the Global Health Norway Secretariat, says that this is a wonderful opportunity for GHN to plan a meeting to discuss how Global Health activity across Norway is addressing the SDGs, and particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
